Invention is an anthology of films by leading visual artist Mark Lewis shot in Paris, Sao Paulo and Toronto. From famous corners of the Louvre Museum to the modernist buildings of Oscar Niemeyer in Brazil and Mies van der Rohe in Canada, Lewis takes us on a whirling tour of cityscapes and creates a sense of moving images through glass, light, reflections, concrete, spiral staircases, paintings and people, as well as uncanny camera movement and trompe l’oeil. By being a contemporary homage to the City Symphony films of the 1920s, it becomes a love letter to urban spaces, art and cinema.
