Robert Henke @ Barbican – Live Performance

Sound: Michele Bianchin
Director: Marian Mentrup
Production: MACO Film

Audiovisual performance by Robert Henke at the Barbican, London. Robert uses five modified Commodore CBM 8032 desktop computers from 1980 and to create a full audio-visual show creating a bridge between old technology and new music.

“CBM 8032 AV is a audiovisual performance based on five Commodore CBM 8032 computers from 1980. All sound and video is generated on these machines, made possible by writing own code in machine language. The computers used have no dedicated sound chip, thus all waveforms are directly calculated in real time directly from the CPU and sent to a 8 bit DAC. Similarly, there is no video chip, each character on screen is also directly drawn from the CPU. These extreme limits made it necessary to use five computers.”

The concert was recorded at the Barbican (London) on the 23rd of January 2020.
